Last Updated: March 20, 2026 | Based on Official Notification Rc.No.10/TGRJC-CET/2026 dated 11-03-2026
The wait is over. The Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Society (TREIS) has officially released the TGRJC CET 2026 notification on March 11, 2026. If your child appeared for the 10th class examination in March 2026 and you are looking for admission into one of Telangana’s prestigious residential junior colleges, this is the most important article you will read this year.
We have gone through the official notification, the information bulletin, and every detail available at tgrjc.cgg.gov.in to put together this complete guide. No guesswork, no outdated information — everything here is based on the official government notification.
What is TGRJC CET 2026?
TGRJC CET stands for Telangana Residential Junior Colleges Common Entrance Test. It is also widely known as TSRJC CET. This is a state-level entrance exam conducted every year by the Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Society (TREIS), headquartered at Gagan Vihar, 4th Floor, Nampally, Hyderabad.
The purpose of this exam is simple: to select the best students from across Telangana and give them access to high-quality, fully residential intermediate education — completely free of cost. Free education, free boarding, free lodging. The only thing a student needs to bring is their merit.
For 2026-27, admissions will be offered across 35 Telangana Residential Junior Colleges for the main CET, and additionally across 93 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) for girl students through a separate but simultaneous notification.

Two Separate Notifications — Which One Is for You?
One thing that confuses many parents and students is that TREIS has released two separate notifications under the same RC number. Here is the difference:
| Notification | For Whom | Colleges | Groups |

If you are a girl student, you may be eligible under both notifications. Check the official bulletin for combined application rules.
Who Can Apply — Eligibility Criteria
This is where many students make mistakes, so read this section carefully.
Residency Requirement
The candidate must be a resident of India and must have studied their previous classes in Telangana State only. Students who studied outside Telangana are not eligible, even if they are currently residing in Telangana.
Academic Qualification
The candidate must have appeared for the Class 10 / SSC examination in March 2026 only. This is a strict condition. Students who passed in earlier years — 2025, 2024, or any year before — are not eligible and should not apply.
Minimum GPA Required
| Category | Minimum GPA in SSC | Minimum GPA in English |
|---|---|---|

Age Limit
The candidate should not have exceeded 17 years of age as of August 31, 2026. For SC and ST candidates, this relaxation extends up to 19 years.
Other Conditions
The candidate must be an Indian citizen. All supporting documents — caste certificate, income certificate, study certificate, special category certificates — may not be needed at the time of applying online, but they must be ready and original before counselling.

About the 35 Telangana Residential Junior Colleges
The 35 TGRJC colleges are spread across Telangana, with each college serving students from specific districts. There are 15 Boys colleges and 20 Girls colleges. Two of the colleges — TSRJC Boys Sarvail (Nalgonda district) and TSRJC Girls Hasanparthy (Hanamkonda district) — are open to students from all 33 Telangana districts and offer all three groups (MPC, BPC, and MEC).
The remaining 33 colleges primarily offer MPC and BPC groups and serve students from specific neighbouring districts only.
Additionally, there are two Minority Residential Junior Colleges — one at Nagaram, Nizamabad (for Boys) and one at LB Nagar, Nagole, Hyderabad (also for Boys) — offering MPC, BPC, and CEC groups in both Urdu and English medium. These minority colleges are almost never mentioned on other websites, so if you belong to a minority community, please check the official bulletin for specific eligibility and seat details.
Selection Process and Tie-Breaking Rules
Selection is based on merit in the entrance test, combined with the reservation structure and local area criteria. Counselling is done through the official website where shortlisted candidates are called in a ratio of 1:5 (five candidates called for every one seat).
What happens when two students score equally?
This is something no other website explains. The official information bulletin has a clear tie-breaking formula that works in the following order:
- Higher marks in the subject relevant to the group — Mathematics for MPC, Biological Science for BPC, Social Studies for MEC — will decide the rank.
- If still tied, higher marks in the second science subject — Physical Science for MPC and BPC, Mathematics for MEC — will be considered.
- If still tied, the older candidate (higher age) gets the higher rank.
- If still tied between a male and female candidate, the female candidate gets the higher rank.
- If still tied, the candidate from a more backward community — in the order ST, SC, BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-D, BC-E, OC — will get the higher rank.
For MEC and CEC, a combined rank is given. If a student opts for MEC but does not get selected, their candidature is automatically considered for CEC as well, and vice versa.
What Happens After the Exam?
After the exam on May 03, 2026, results will be published on tgrjc.cgg.gov.in within 10 to 15 days. The result will show subject-wise marks, total score, and qualifying status.
After results, a merit list is published and shortlisted candidates are called for counselling — typically in two phases. Phase 1 counselling is usually held in the last week of May, and Phase 2 in June. During counselling, candidates must appear in person at the designated centre with all original documents. Seat allotment is final based on merit, reservation, and the student’s preference.
If a selected candidate does not appear for counselling or fails to produce the required documents, the seat is forfeited.
Life Inside a TGRJC College — What Students Can Expect
These are not ordinary colleges. Every TGRJC follows a strict residential Gurukul pattern.
The day begins with physical exercise. Academic classes start as early as 5:30 AM and continue until 10:00 PM. A Loco Parent system is in place — lecturers are appointed as loco parents to provide individual attention to every student. Sports, games, and co-curricular activities are part of the daily routine for all-round development.
All colleges have well-equipped laboratories, libraries, reading rooms, and playgrounds. Every student gets free education, free boarding, and free lodging. There is no fee collected after admission.
