How to Prepare for the Exam (Top 3 Tips)
To rank high in your internal and external exams, don’t just memorize the text. Focus on these three areas:
1. Master the Summaries (Section A)
The literature section requires you to understand the central theme.
- Poetry: For Sonnet 30, focus on how the poet deals with past regrets. For The Solitary Reaper, understand Wordsworth’s connection to nature.
- Prose: The Jack London To Build a Fire summary is essential because it deals with the harsh reality of nature, a very common exam question.
2. Grammar & Pronunciation (Section B)
This is the easiest section to score full marks in.
- Grammar: Practice English grammar nouns pronouns verbs daily. These are the building blocks of the sentence correction questions.
- Pronunciation: Don’t ignore the “Pronunciation” units. Questions on Consonant sounds English pronunciation and Monophthongs often appear as objective questions.
3. Writing Skills
The new syllabus emphasizes employability.
- Note-Making: This is a crucial skill for students. Search for Note-making techniques exam prep to learn how to create headers, sub-headers, and abbreviations correctly.
- Communication: Be prepared to define “Soft Skills” and the barriers to listening/speaking found in the Communication skills LSRW OU English unit.
