This is an important and urgent update for all Osmania University students who have examinations scheduled on 28 May 2026. A formal request has been made to the Telangana Chief Minister and the Telangana Chief Secretary to postpone all BA, B.Com, and B.Sc degree examinations scheduled by Osmania University on 28 May 2026, as the date directly coincides with Eid ul Adha, which is also widely known as Bakrid.
India is a secular country and it has always been a tradition that examinations and government work are not scheduled on major religious festivals. Keeping this spirit in mind, the request has been made and students across Hyderabad and Telangana are eagerly waiting for an official response from the university.
Why Is the Postponement Being Requested?
28 May 2026 falls on the occasion of Eid ul Adha, one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals in India. Millions of students and their families celebrate this day with prayers, family gatherings, and religious rituals. Scheduling major degree examinations on this day puts a large number of students in an extremely difficult and unfair position where they are forced to choose between their religious festival and their academic examination.
This is against the spirit of a secular and inclusive education system. The request has been made to the Telangana government and Osmania University to kindly reschedule these examinations to a more suitable date so that every student can appear for their exams without any disadvantage.
A request was made by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi tagging Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and the Telangana Chief Secretary, urging postponement of the exams scheduled on 28 May 2026.
Since India is a secular country and the government has always respected religious sentiments of all communities, it is very likely that the university will respond positively and announce a postponement very soon.
