The first year builds your base. You study how the human body works (Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, Pathophysiology), basic chemistry (Pharmaceutical Inorganic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry 1, Biochemistry) and a first look at Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Analysis. Communication Skills, Computer Applications in Pharmacy and Environmental Science add general skills.
The second year goes deeper into organic chemistry (Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry 2 and 3) and the science of formulations (Physical Pharmaceutics 1 and 2). You also study Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Medicinal Chemistry 1, Pharmacology 1 and Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry.
The third year is heavy on drug science: Medicinal Chemistry 2 and 3, Pharmacology 2 and 3, Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry 2 and Herbal Drug Technology. You also cover Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Industrial Pharmacy 1, Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance and Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence (pharmacy laws).
The final year covers Instrumental Methods of Analysis, Industrial Pharmacy 2, Pharmacy Practice, Novel Drug Delivery System, Biostatistics and Research Methodology and Social and Preventive Pharmacy. Depending on your college, you may also study subjects like Pharma Marketing Management, Pharmaceutical Regulatory Science, Cosmetic Science and Quality Control and Standardization of Herbals.
